Laura Scott

I have worked as an organizational development specialist since 1991, helping groups make decisions about the direction in which they wish to go and then to explore whether the structure and culture of their organization support that direction. I have a special interest in increasing group effectiveness, creating strategic plans, and helping leaders develop their full potential. In addition to my years of practical experience, I hold a Masters in Organizational Development from one of the top rated OD programs in the country, the American University/NTL program.

I have been at the University of Maryland since 2002, and prior to coming here the bulk of my OD work was in the political arena, working with members of Congress and their staff. Translating from that environment to the higher education arena has been a fascinating experience; there are a surprising number of interesting parallels between the two. In making the transition I benefited greatly from the opportunity to work with the members of CLOC’s Peer Consulting Network. This group of campus faculty and staff has a combined total of literally hundreds of years of experience on campus.
